Tens of thousands of Virginia residents have been caught in the enormous backlog of immigration-related applications that remain pending at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  My staff has spent considerable time assisting residents who have paid the necessary fees, filed the required paperwork, and gone through the legal process to adjust their status.  I have also written to the Secretary of Homeland Security asking the Department to explore means to reduce this backlog.
